“Dr. Clarence B. Jones, a former speechwriter and advisor to Martin Luther King Jr., threw out the ceremonial first pitch tonight in honour of African American Heritage Night. Dr. Jones’s close friend @stephencurry30 joined him on the mound, the team posted on Instagram.
Just before the playing of the national anthem, Curry gave a warm embrace to the former speechwriter for Martin Luther King Jr., demonstrating how significant the occasion was for him. The two are good buddies, as the team noticed.
While many Giants fans were happy to see the 93-year-old civil rights activist take the mound for the game, many were even more excited to see Curry at the game.
“Every day, wonderful people like Dr. Jones improve the world. I’m grateful, Dr. Jones,” a user commented.
“Y’all are lucky to be in the same venue as this man,” another declared.
“aww, I would love to know what he said to Steph there at the end, can only imagine the wisdom,” wrote another.
A truly memorable evening.
