Stephen Curry collaborates with Under Armour to launch the one-of-a-kind Sesame Street Curry 9 collection

Stephen Curry and Under Armour are set to launch their “Street Pack” collection featuring Sesame Street.

On November 19, Curry Brand’s new Curry Flow 9 sneaker will be available in colorways inspired by Sesame Street, honoring the show’s characters.
The legendary Muppets from Sesame Street are making a return to the basketball court with a seven-piece footwear line that Curry Brand, powered by Under Armour, is introducing. As a parent of three children under the age of nine, Stephen Curry saw that collaborating with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational institution that created Sesame Street, would be a logical progression of his recent initiatives to honor Harlem and motivate young athletes.

Curry, a three-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP, adds, “Curry Brand and Sesame Street, we preach the same message.” “It’s about giving all kids a chance to be their best selves, especially those from underprivileged communities.”

“It’s about helping all children, especially those in underserved communities who want the chance to be the best versions of themselves.”

Through its varied ensemble of Muppets, humans, and guest actors, Sesame Street has always served as an example of inclusion in storytelling. The friends of Sesame Street enjoy learning, laughing, and playing together. Beyond being a dad, Curry has a deeper connection to Sesame Street because he and his wife, Ayesha, made a cameo appearance to teach kids the value of sharing and having a balanced breakfast.

“We adore how the Curry Brand encourages teamwork, healthy, active lifestyles,” says Sesame Workshop vice president of worldwide licensing Gabriela Arenas. “In this vibrant and playful collaboration with multigenerational appeal, it’s been so much fun combining Curry Brand’s commitment to play and Under Armour’s innovative technology with Sesame Street’s iconic characters.”

Curry Brand’s “Street Pack” consists of seven hues inspired by iconic Sesame Street characters. Each colorway features a touch of character flag at the heel and distinctive insignia on the tongue tab of the shoe. The sock liner also has the iconic Sesame Street sign.

For instance, the “Count It” colorway brings Count von Count to life with the interior of the shoe matching the vibrant lining of the cape and the shiny tongue tab echoing the satin exterior of The Count’s cape. The tongue tab on Cookie Monster’s “Taking Cookies” and other shoe tabs have a fuzzy, furry feel, while the tongue tab on Oscar the Grouch-based “Talking Trash” has a metallic touch as an homage to the trash can.

“People can use their imaginations a little bit with this collection,” says Curry. “Your playing really allows you to express your self. On the court, I enjoy expressing my creativity, trying new things, and displaying my diverse side. The characters on Sesame Street demonstrate that everyone has a place in the realm of play.

“It is demonstrated by the same street characters that everyone is included in the world of play.”

Building on the popularity of the Curry Flow 8, comes the Curry Flow 9. The UA Flow traction pattern has been fine-tuned, and Under Armour’s new upper technology for basketball, UA Warp, increases foot stability in this revised shoe. Together with UA Flow, UA Warp has supporting tapes that secure the foot to the UA Flow midsole while preserving natural range of motion.

With the shoe’s complex construction and wide range of stylizations, Under Armour designers made sure to honor Sesame Street’s characters.

According to Under Armour senior footwear designer Spencer Hawkins, “achieving a sense of depth and sophistication in our designs was the hardest part.” “We didn’t just state that since Elmo is red, the shoe is red as a complete. To depict the nose, we added traces of orange and experimented with a wide spectrum of red tones. Every colorway tells a different tale that honors each character’s distinct physical qualities as well as lessons they can all impart on how to create a neighborhood that is better and more welcoming.
