Stephen Curry’s Curry Brand has signed its first-ever NIL deal with a college athlete. South Carolina freshman star basketball player MiLaysia Fulwiley is now part of the brand. This is a big deal for both college sports and brand partnerships.
The multi-year deal makes Fulwiley an ambassador for Curry Brand and gives her the chance to be the star of marketing campaigns, shoe launches, and the creation of player-exclusive colors with the brand’s design team. Fuller will wear Curry Brand shoes because he is the first college player ambassador for the brand at an Under Armour school.
He was a big reason why the Gamecocks got to be the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. By signing with Curry Brand, a company owned by Under Armour, she solidifies her rising standing in college basketball. As an athlete for South Carolina, she wore Under Armour gear and played for Team Curry, an AAU team sponsored by Stephen Curry. This is a natural extension of her friendship with the Curry and Under Armour families.
Stephen Curry, a big fan of Fulwiley’s, said he admired her game and pointed out how she plays and how she fits in with the Under Armour team. This season, Fulwiley averaged 11.8 points per game, had 72 assists, and 52 steals. He also made history by becoming the first rookie in South Carolina’s history to win SEC Tournament MVP honors.
Curry said in a statement, “I don’t think many people have seen a style and flow to their game like hers in a long time.” Nick Nakos of On3 reported this. „Working with her and Curry Brand is such a unique chance to be a part of the Under Armour family and do exciting things together. Being a part of the family now makes me feel humble.
Dawn Staley, South Carolina’s coach, praised Fulwiley’s generational ability and approach to the game. She also pointed out that both the player and the coach are growing and learning.
Dawn Staley said, “MiLaysia is a generational player, an artist who is learning more every day about how to marry all the parts of her game together.” “It’s been great to work with her on this process because we are learning from each other how to improve her game.”
