NBA star Anthony Davis just created a ‘Signature Shoe’ – The Ruffles Ridge Tops, designed by custom footwear maker The Shoe Surgeon

The list of things Anthony Davis has done may grow by one this week.

After being traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, the six-time NBA All-Star has been in the news a lot. He is showing off his fashion and creative skills with a unique relationship that has led to a signature sneaker that looks like potato chips.

Davis officially signed a new deal with Frito-Lay’s Ruffles chip brand today at the NBA Store in New York. He also showed off his new shoes, The Ruffles Ridge Tops, which were made by the custom shoemaker The Shoe Surgeon.

The partnership, which has been called the first-of-its-kind “Chip Deal,” sees Nike-sponsored Davis (who provided “creative design input”) make his first big shoe. He’s already learned some lessons he didn’t expect.

Davis told FN, “Sometimes you have these crazy ideas and you want to just throw it on a shoe. But sometimes it doesn’t work and they’re like, ‘You can’t put that on a shoe.'” “I wouldn’t say it’s frustrating, but it made me realize more than anything else that I couldn’t do that.” We found some things that worked and got rid of some heat in the end.

Each Ruffles Ridge Tops sneaker was made by hand and has the blue and orange colors of the original Ruffles bag. The shoelaces can be switched out and were inspired by the colors of different Ruffles tastes. There is a secret pocket with a silver lining and a ribbed accent near the heel of the shoe that is meant to look like the shape of a ridged chip and the feeling of opening a Ruffles bag. Like the list of ingredients on most foods, the tongue of the shoe has “Shoetrition Facts” that describe the shoe’s physical and intangible parts.

Davis was drafted into the NBA in 2012 after a legendary college career at the University of Kentucky. He said that in the seven years he has been a professional basketball player, his fashion sense has “evolved tremendously.”

“I only wore sweatsuits when I first came in, right after college.” “After that, I started getting invited to all these fancy events, so I had to buy suits and dressier clothes, more grown-up clothes,” he told FN. “That look got better and better over the years as I worked on it.”

Davis’s “favorite Nike silhouette,” the “Dunk High,” has his limited-edition Ruffles partnership on it.

“I love putting on Nikes.” “This is something I’ve always done,” Davis said. “That’s the only shoe I ever wore while playing.” It seemed right to me.

Fans who buy a bag of Ruffles and enter the code on the package will have daily chances to win fashion and sports items, with a pair of sneakers made by Ruffles and Davis as the big prize. The contest runs from June 24 to August 4.
