Los Angeles fired head coach Darvin Ham because they saw they needed to make adjustments and decided to start with the easiest target. While LeBron still has time to reflect on the conclusion of this season and his future with the team, they will also be considering the thoughts of Anthony Davis, another leader and voice on the team.
The 2023–24 campaign demonstrated beyond doubt that Davis had accepted his leadership role alongside James and had assumed a greater sense of responsibility for the team. After giving Davis a three-year agreement, Los Angeles regards him as a player and a partner. As such, they should include Davis in important choices such as selecting a new head coach.
The Lakers are allegedly considering hiring a more experienced head coach for the time being, however it is unclear which candidates would be a good fit. But whoever it is, they are in for one of the hardest tasks in athletics.

If Lue and the Los Angeles Clippers decide to part ways, he would be a fantastic head coach for the Lakers. Although Lue acknowledged that it felt wonderful to be desired by the purple and gold, he made it clear that his main goal is to remain a member of the Clippers.
