Jaylen Brown, a famous player for the Boston Celtics, shares passionate thoughts after meeting civil rights icon Jean McGuire

Jaylen Brown, a top player for the Boston Celtics and a civil rights supporter, met with Boston civil rights pioneer Jean McGuire a few weeks after she was stabbed.

Photos of Brown’s encounter with McGuire, 91, who was stabbed on October 11 while walking her dog in Franklin Park, were posted on Twitter.

“Jean McGuire thank you for the work you continue to do, and have done in our community,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “You have my admiration. It was an honor to spend some time with you; your strength and resilience are incredible. I’m excited to collaborate with METCO and have further conversations about the community.”

McGuire, who is one of the program founders of the Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity (METCO), seemed to be healing nicely from her wounds.

Good healthcare is something we take for granted, McGuire said to NBC10 Boston last month. “But there’s nothing like the high quality that you get at a place like Beth Israel, Boston Medical Center and Tufts, in a city like Boston.”
