The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves engaged in a fierce Western rivalry that culminated in an outstanding triumph for Niokola Jokic and company.
Despite having to play their second game in two days (back-to-back), the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets both brought a lot of energy, passion, and most importantly, a winning mentality.
In just a few days, the Regular Season will come to a conclusion, and the team that wins today will move up to the top of the Western rankings.
In the first two rounds, no team was able to lead by more than six points as they both struggled. The two best football teams in the West were also identical, with numerous players speaking out in unison and not a single standout player.
With Anthony Edwards bursting for the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring 15 of the “wolves’ total 28 points” by the third quarter, star power started to emerge gradually. Nikola Jokic led the home team with 15 points in the first half while playing on the other side of the court. Denver home.
But there is a distinction between these two players: Anthony Edwards “turned off the power” entirely, whilst Nikola Jokic kept his hot hands going into the fourth round.
The final points Edwards scored throughout the game were also acquired in the third round. In contrast, Nikola Jokic scored 13 more points in the second half to help his team overcome a tie and take a 16-point advantage.
The Denver Nuggets’ 22-7 run in the fourth quarter was akin to a “knock-out” blow, as they went on to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-107 to take the top spot in the Western Conference.
With a superb performance, Nikola Jokic advanced farther in the competition for MVP. Along with 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals, he scored 41 points.
What’s even more amazing is that “The Joker” managed to play a very productive game, finishing with 16–20 FG (2-2 3PT), even though he had to play against Rudy Gobert, the winner of three tournament Best Defensive Player championships (2018), 2019–2021).
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 25 points and four assists. Along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 19 points (7–12 FG), Mike Conley also had two assists.
Even after Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Houston Rockets 127-89 today to keep up their chase, the top-3 standings in the West remain incredibly unpredictable. At the moment, OKC and the Minnesota Timberwolves are tied with a 55-25 record.
The Denver Nuggets, with a 56-24 overall record, are now momentarily leading the table. To wrap out the Regular Season, all three clubs will play two more games at the same time on Saturday, April 13, and Monday, April 15.
Denver will travel to see the Grizzlies and Spurs. The Suns and Hawks are guests of the Timberwolves. Thunder’s schedule of games against the Bucks and Mavericks, respectively, is the most competitive.
