In the midst of his relationship with Taylor Swift, NBA legend LeBron James has nicknamed Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce the King of Ohio.
After the pop star, 33, went to three Chiefs games to support her new boyfriend, the NFL player, 34, and Swift’s budding romance caused quite a commotion in the media and online.
James, the standout player for the Lakers, commented on the controversy and praised Kelce as Ohio royalty for his new A-List partnership.
The two-time Super Bowl winner took over as the most well-known player from Northeast Ohio after the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, known for years as “King James,” handed over his crown.
James remarked, “Listen, sometimes you got to give the crown up to the next one,” during the Chiefs’ Week 6 19-8 victory over the Broncos on the Thursday Night Football in The Shop alternate broadcast.
Given Trav’s current situation and the Swifties, I believe I will hand him the throne at this time. He is currently deserving of it.
James and Kelce are from Ohio, having grown up in Westlake and Akron, respectively.
But after spending two spells of 11 seasons with the Cavaliers and delivering the team to its first-ever championship in 2016, the NBA player firmly established his hero status in the community.
James openly requested an invitation to speak on his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, and Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” earlier this month.
James wrote on X, “Crazy I can’t get an invite to join yall fantastic show [sic].” Is it because I say I’m the King of Northeast Ohio and you people really are? Tell the truth! You guys really are amazing!
“There is no way that we haven’t sent LeBron James the invite,” the Chiefs star stated in a statement made during the most recent installment of the show on Wednesday. James was clearly invited to attend.
Jason continued, “If we haven’t, intern Brian and intern Jake are going to hear it from us.”
Yes, Travis said, “They know who’s out there and who’s at the top of our list to try and get on here.”
As Kelce played for the third time this season, Swift and the Love Story hitmaker continued to fire up social media on Thursday.
Swift, whose romance with Kelce is still blossoming, flew in from Los Angeles on Thursday morning for the Chiefs’ game against the Denver Broncos. Prior to the game, she had attended the Hollywood premiere of her Eras Tour film.
Despite Kelce’s mother seemingly making fun of her following their initial encounter at Arrowhead for the team’s victory against the Chicago Bears last month, she seemed to get along well with Donna.
Husband of Kansas City’s standout quarterback Patrick, Brittany Mahomes, was seated next to the couple in their suite and was spotted giving Swift a hug when their men worked together admirably on the field.
The pop sensation and Kelce seem to be developing a serious relationship as she was also seen having her first conversation with his favorite player, Ed Kelce, during the Week 6 game.
And after Thursday Night Football’s Chiefs victory over the Denver Broncos, 19-8, the Anti-Hero hitmaker appeared to have some quality time with the Super Bowl victor.
Swift seemed to spend the night at Kelce’s house because, according to DailyMail.com exclusive images, her security detail was seen outside the house on Friday morning.
The SUVs that picked up the celebrity straight from her private jet and took her out of the airport on Thursday looked to be the same ones that were parked outside the tight end’s property.
