Klay Thompson paces the Warriors’ scoring with 28 PTS as they add separation in the Play-In Tournament positioning with a road win.

Tuesday’s 113-92 victory over the visiting Miami Heat was fueled by 28 points from Klay Thompson on 11 of 20 shots, and one of the best defensive efforts of the Golden State Warriors’ season.
After losing its previous two games, Golden State (37–34) seized the lead for the majority of the game and took command in the fourth quarter. The Warriors extended their lead to 22 points during the quarter by limiting Miami to just 6-of-22 shooting.

The Heat (39–33) finished the game with 37 of 92 shots, including a pitiful 8 of 33 (24.2%) from three-point range. Haywood Highsmith scored 15 points off the bench on 6-of-7 shooting, including a 3-for-3 performance from long range, while Bam Adebayo scored a team-high 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting.

Terry Rozier (15 points), Jaime Jaquez Jr. (12 points), Nikola Jovic (11) and Caleb Martin (10 points) were the other Miami players who scored in double figures. All of them shot 40 percent or worse.

The Warriors have surrendered the third fewest points of the season with 92. When keeping opponents to fewer than 100 points, they advanced to 6-0.
Miami, on the other hand, has lost its last four games without scoring more than 92 points.

Golden State also struggled from three-point range, with Stephen Curry finishing with an unusual 3-for-10 performance despite leading the team in scoring with 17. The Warriors made 47 of 85 (55.3 percent) of their shots from the floor despite a combined 13-for-38 performance from beyond the arc.

Golden State held a 13–6 edge in second-chance points and outscored Miami 52–46 in the paint.
For the Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga pulled down seven rebounds, three of which came from the offensive glass, and scored eighteen points. Draymond Green finished with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Andrew Wiggins contributed 17 points and seven more rebounds.
In the first half, neither side led by more than eight points, and with 2.2 seconds left, Green made a basket to get Golden State to within 55-53 at the intermission. The Warriors led 66-59 at the beginning of the third quarter after a 13-4 run, and Miami was never closer than four points the rest of the way.
