PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Derrick White earns Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors

Fans of the Celtics have known for a while how important Derrick White is. Now it looks like the rest of the league is starting to notice too.

White was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week by the NBA for the games played from March 18th to March 24th. He played many roles and helped Boston go 4-0 by averaging 20.3 points, 8.8 assists, and 6.5 boards.

This is the second time in his career that he has won this award. It is him first win this season. Three Celtics have been chosen this year: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and now him.

Many important players have been hurt in recent weeks, but White has been there for the Celtics and helped them lock up the top seed.

He scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and passed 5,000 career points against the Pistons on Monday, giving him his first career triple-double. Then, against the Bucks, White had 23 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks, which helped Boston hold off a fierce comeback.

White scored 19 points and gave out 11 assists against the Pistons. Against the Bulls, he scored 17 points and gave out 6 assists. He had just 5.0 assists in February and 3.7 in January, but now he has 7.2 assists per game in March.
