A few months after making a $190 million deal with the Lakers, Anthony Davis put a lot of his new money into a new house in Los Angeles. The Real Deal was the first to report that the man from Chicago paid a huge amount of money for a house in Bel Air Crest, a guard-gated community in the mountains between Bel Air and the San Fernando Valley.
Bel Air Crest was built between the late 1980s and early 1990s. It has about 200 homes, most of which are Mediterranean-style houses with private entry gates. Gordon Ramsay, Kathy Gryphon, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West are some of the other famous people who have lived in Bel Air Crest. They lived there while building their huge Hidden Hills home.
Public records show that Davis paid exactly $31 million for his new home and got a mortgage for $20.1 million. He has never sold his house. This particular house is the biggest and fancier in the whole neighborhood. It has about 20,000 square feet of living space and sits on a 3.5-acre cliff with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.
Property records show that the eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bathroom house was built for the Chang family in the area and was finished in 2010. The perfectly balanced building, which could be best described as a mix of the White House’s castle-style international style and European influence, was sold in 2016 for a precise $10 million to Ted Foxman, a former executive in the semiconductor industry who now builds homes. After that, Foxman spent even more money fixing up the huge property. The inside has been redone from top to bottom, and the landscaping is now much lusher and more colorful than it was before.
Foxman let his decorative side run wild with the house as well. He added pops of bright color all over and even parked an old Porsche 356 in the living room, which was painted a pretty blue color. She worked on it with the help of Los Angeles-based interior designer Lonni Paul, and the end result was shot for Elle Decor the year before.
The interior feels like a solarium because of the huge dome on top of the double-height entryway. There are many cozy rooms, such as a music room for guitar jams, a games room with a bar, a wine cellar, a movie theater, and more. Even though it’s huge, the property’s main attraction is not the house, but the stunning views and the 120-foot-long Olympic-sized swimming pool. There is also a full-size tennis court, endless grounds, and a cabana by the pool.
Davis used to own a huge house in Westlake Village. He bought it in 2018 for $7.5 million and then sold it in 2020 for a huge loss of $1 million. Foxman more than tripled his money when he sold Bel Air to Davis, but that was before taxes and repair costs. He then moved down to a $13.8 million mansion in Encino with a basketball court and 13,000 square feet of living space.
