A sublime performance against the Atlanta Hawks pushed D’Angelo Russell to the top of the Los Angeles Lakers’ single-season 3-point list.

After the first half was quiet and didn’t leave any mark, D’Angelo Russell started to get hotter in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds. The pitcher born in 1996 had 2 3-pointers every 12 minutes to finished the match with 6-10 3PT, scoring a total of 25 points and 10 assists in 30 minutes.

This performance of D’Lo not only led the Los Angeles Lakers in the great victory over the Atlanta Hawks, but also put Russell at the top of the team’s list of players with the most 3-pointers in a season.

With 6 3-pointers against the Atlanta Hawks on March 19, D’Angelo Russell had a total of 183 successful long-range shots this season.

He surpassed the late legend Kobe Bryant (180 hits in 80 matches, 2005-06 season) and shared No. 1 position with the legendary Nick Van Exel (183 hits in 80 matches, 1994-95 season). 

Unlike Kobe Bryant or Van Exel, who needed 80 games to reach 180 and 183 successful 3-point shots, respectively, D’Lo only needed 64 matches to have 183 long shots into the basket.

D’Angelo Russell equaled the Los Angeles Lakers 3-point record as the biggest highlight in the 136-105 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The entire Lakers starting lineup reached double-digit points in points, including the trio of Russell – LeBron James – Anthony Davis who simultaneously scored over 22 points.

The entire LA team shot 15 3-pointers and had 39 assists, marking the game with the second most assists of the entire season (behind 41 assists in the 133-112 victory over the Charlotte Hornets).

This result brought the Los Angeles Lakers back to 9th place in the Western rankings with a total record of 37-32, surpassing the Golden State Warriors (35-32) after Stephen Curry and his teammates lost to the New York Knicks in the match took place on the same day.
