Spencer Dinwiddie is “stable” for the Lakers, according to Darvin Ham

Spencer Dinwiddie was the only player the Los Angeles Lakers got this year at the trade deadline. He was bought out.

It has been a process for head coach Darvin Ham and the Lakers to get Dinwiddie used to the new surroundings this late in the season.

But there’s no doubt that the Lakers have been successful with Dinwiddie on the court, even though the guard hasn’t played very well since joining the team. In those ten games, he averaged about five points and four assists, but he only played a few minutes per game. Despite that, his +56 plus-minus was the best on the Lakers during that time.

Before the Lakers’ game on Wednesday night, Ham talked about how to get Dinwiddie up to speed and explained why the team has done so well when he’s on the court.

“Man, Spencer is just steady,” Ham said. “The player is very smart and always asks the right questions.” Just another player on the court who can spot second- and third-side moves to make things easier for himself or a teammate. Some great passes were seen on the video from the last game, and he’s still making them.

We’re pleased with what he brings at the moment, but it will get better. He will definitely have a few nights when he goes off offensively, but other than that, he has been reliable while he is getting used to things, as most top veterans do. We don’t want him to be rushed in any way. Just go outside and play basketball.

Although there are still a few games left in the regular season, it will be interesting to see if Ham starts to play Dinwiddie more to get him ready for the playoffs.

Also, Gabe Vincent could come back in the next few weeks. However, things could also go the other way, and if Dinwiddie isn’t adding, his minutes could be cut.
