The Denver Nuggets selected Nikola Jokic, one of the top players in the NBA, with the first overall choice. He is regarded as the greatest passer of all time for a big man and has won the Most Valuable Player award twice.
By selecting Jokic in the second round, the Denver Nuggets executive office made the proper decision. He is the best player in NBA history to be taken in the second round. Jokic also holds the record for the MVP award with the fewest points required. They undoubtedly acknowledged his brilliance, but I can not help but wonder if chance also had a part.
Nikola Jokic’s agent, Misko Raznatovic, recently related a story about the day in 2000 that Jokic received a Denver Nuggets jumper. The Denver Nuggets owned the jumper. Speaking specifically about Nikola Jokic, he stated that having a Nuggets sweater at the time was “a rarity” and that “a little fate plays a big role in the overall outcome.” He went on, “A little fate plays a big role in the overall outcome.”
Next year, with Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray both healthy and back on the roster, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets will be a serious title contender. The Denver Nuggets’ sixth-place finish this season may be attributed largely to Jokic’s play. The following year, this squad will be even better.
Whether or if Nikola Jokic can guide the Denver Nuggets to a championship in the future is a major question mark for women’s basketball. The majority of Nuggets fans believe he has already accomplished more than any other player in franchise history and that a championship is the only thing remaining for him to accomplish with Denver. If he puts his mind to it, I think he can make it.
