The LA Lakers have had a hard time all year getting into a flow from game to game. Only five times have they won three games in a row. They have never had a win streak longer than four games. That being said, there are some reasons for this inconsistency on the court. For example, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, and many others have been hurt.
The Lakers have had a hard time finding a steady rotation this season, and Hachimura has been one of the players who has been hurt the most. Twenty of his fifty games have been starts, but thirteen of them were for less than 20 minutes. Besides that, he’s also missed 14 games. It’s not a surprise that Hachimura has had trouble with his own flow after all of this.
He talked about how the illnesses and players coming back have constantly changed the team’s rotation, which has been hard for everyone.
“It is hard, for sure, and as you said, Vando will be back soon. Vince [Gabe] is going to be back soon. Soon, Christian Wood will be back. Even I will find it hard to rotate, you know? “You need to figure it out,” Hachimura said.
“I have no idea what the team will do, but this is the NBA. It is what it is.” For every game, we only had to practice our part, and we had to play hard and with a lot of energy. That’s fine. I think that’s the key.
It’s been a theme for the Lakers for a few seasons now that they have to play multiple parts. It’s especially hard when players’ roles seem to change from night to night. Hachimura, on the other hand, has been playing for a long time and knows what it takes to be successful.
There is no question that Hachimura will have a chance to make a difference, even when the Lakers are fully healthy.
Rui Hachimura talks about what went wrong with Kings.
The Lakers had a 19-point lead early in the first quarter, but the Kings turned things around in the second quarter and never looked back. Hachimura scored 29 points on 13-of-17 shooting. From Hachimura’s point of view, the game changed in the second frame, when De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk caught fire.
“I told them at halftime that we had the best start to the season,” Hachimura said. “We got off to a great start. We were locked in on defence, and on offence, we’re passing the ball around and moving.” They came back out of nowhere, I think in the second quarter. We couldn’t figure it out the whole game because Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox got into a groove. We tried to get back on track in the third and early fourth quarters, but it was too late. They were already in a rhythm. It’s hard to play defence when both of them are in a rhythm because we can’t really double and all that. That’s it, the game was over after the second quarter.
