LeBron James was named Western Conference Player of the Week

NFL Western Conference Players of the Week are LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics. They were chosen for Week 19 of the 2023–24 season, which ran from February 26 to March 3, 2023.

There were also nominees in the East, including Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler (MIA), Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL), Paolo Banchero (ORL), Tyrese Maxey (PHI), Evan Mobley (CLE), and Jayson Tatum (BOS). In the West, there were also Luka Dončić (DAL), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC), Brandon Ingram (NOP), Nikola Jokić (DEN), and Victor Wembanyama (SAS).

Congratulations to James on this honour. He has had a very busy week. From February 26 to March 3, James led the Lakers to a 2-1 record. They beat the L.A. Clippers and the Washington Wizards before falling to the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers were down by 21 points in the fourth quarter of their game against the Clippers, but James made five 3-pointers to bring his team back. LeBron scored more points than the Clippers all by himself in the fourth quarter. He ended the game with 34 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and 7-12 shooting from three-point range.

The next day, James went back to the court for the second game of a back-to-back. Even though LeBron had 31 points, four rebounds, and nine assists, the Lakers had a tough night and had to go into overtime to beat the weak Wizards.

On Saturday night against the Nuggets, James scored over 40,000 points, a record that had never been hit before. Even though the Lakers lost, LeBron had 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 9 assists. It was a disappointing loss for them because they couldn’t finish the week with a win against the defending champs.

Still, James had a great week. In three games, he averaged 30.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks, which earned him the Western Conference Player of the Week award for the 68th time in his long career.

Lakers needed the 39-year-old to play at a very high level every night because of where they are in the standings, and James has been able to do that in the 21st season of his career.

Getting to 40,000 points in a loss is “bittersweet” for LeBron James.

Even though LeBron James and the Lakers were happy that he had scored 40,000 points, the mood was a little down because they had just lost to the Nuggets.

It seems like the Lakers have lost a lot of the nights that James has set records and hit important milestones. He even said that the loss to Denver made him feel “bittersweet.”
