The star player for Golden State reacted bluntly to Sunday’s lopsided loss to Boston.
After guiding the Golden State Warriors to an NBA championship victory against the Boston Celtics two years prior, Stephen Curry experienced the utmost happiness. The emotional balance shifted to the other side on Sunday night.
Curry’s Warriors suffered their fourth-worst blowout in franchise history as the Celtics thrashed them 140–88 at TD Garden. With Curry shooting a scorching 0 for 9 from outside the arc that evening, the Warriors’ mid-season momentum came to an abrupt halt.
Curry responded to how the game went extremely bluntly following the 52-point loss.
“We used to do that to teams,” Curry remarked to Bob Manning, a reporter for the Celtics.
With a focus on “used to.”
The offensively dominant Warriors, who broke records with 73 wins in 2015 and advanced to five straight NBA Finals from 2015 to 2019, were undoubtedly capable of crushing opponents on a weekly basis during their dynasty era.
But Golden State had no such luck this year against the top-seeded Celtics.
Curry and the other Warriors starters were substituted out in the third quarter after he shot just 2 out of 13 from the field and finished with 4 points, 3 assists and 1 rebound in 17 minutes. With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown finishing with 27 and 29 points apiece, the unstoppable offensive tandem helped the Celtics build up a 44-point lead by the half.
On Wednesday, the Warriors (32–28) will try to get back on track against the Milwaukee Bucks.
