James, who is starting his 21st NBA season, is unrivalled in many aspects and is expanding the realm of what is practical in the game. With 38,387 points on February 7, 2023, he passed another legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to become the league’s best scorer. His achievement of 39,000 points on November 21 has now moved the record up one notch.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar accomplished the milestone with 10 minutes, 39 seconds left in the second quarter of the NBA 2023โ€“24 game after driving past Denver Nuggets player Michael Porter Junior and making a layup.

He was given a standing ovation at the next interval. In response to the applause, James raised the ball above his head both before and after the in-arena video presentation.

LeBron James is the only NBA player with a minimum of 10,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 10,000 assists. He also has the second-most minutes played in both the regular season and the playoffs in league history.

When Abdul-Jabbar was nearing the end of his career and Lakers coach Darvin Ham was a teenage basketball fan, he thought the record would never be questioned, much less broken like James did.

But here we are, Ham said prior to the game. “Bron is a testament to himself because of the time and money he devotes to his well-being, which ensures both his physical and mental well-being.”
