Star player for the Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown says he’s passionate about improving the neighbourhood in Boston and helping children.
At Dorchester’s Fenelon Street Playground on Friday, a sizable crowd assembled to meet Brown. Along with Kaiya Santos, a junior at Northeastern University, and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, Brown is spearheading a makeover initiative for the court.
This summer, Brown has been very busy. Returned from a vacation to Spain, he continues to pursue an extension of his contract. If he accepts the Celtics’ super-max offer of $304 million spread over five years, it will be the wealthiest NBA contract ever.
But Brown didn’t care about any of that on Friday. Youngsters with Celtics t-shirts were ecstatic to meet and snap photographs with their idol.
Brown said, “It’s always about the next generation.” “I am aware that being an athlete sometimes takes you out of these environments and places you in which you lose sight of your origins.” Since coming here, I have not done that. These events will persist as long as I am here. This is but a little illustration of what occurs in various Boston locations.
Marietta, Georgia, just twenty minutes outside of Atlanta, is where Brown is from. Franklin Park Zoo is only a few blocks away from the Fenelon Street Playground, which he is renovating and fixing with his Red Bull cash.

He was victorious in Red Bull’s “Get In The Paint” competition, which invited artists to illustrate their vision for the sector going forward.

The community services given by Brown thrilled Mayor Michelle Wu. She brought up the fact that the beloved Boston Celtics team hosts an annual fundraiser at the Museum of Fine Arts to support social justice initiatives in Boston and nationwide.
Regarding Brown, the mayor remarked, “I’m just always blown away.” “He will simply appear in court to socialise and ensure that our youth see themselves in roles that will enable them to succeed in the future.”
After joining the Celtics in 2016, Brown and his family launched the 7uice Foundation and the BRIDGE programme to assist kids in obtaining employment in science, technology, engineering, and maths. The 7uice Foundation focuses on addressing many social concerns and enhancing education.
Regarding the Fenelon Street Playground, Brown stated, “A lot of our young people will play and participate there.” However, this location also highlights the things that Boston needs to do more of. We need more than simply a pretty court for kids to play on. The wealth divide in Boston must be closed. More opportunities, occupations, and resources must be made available.
