After his lengthy buzzer-beater against Golden State sealed the deal in their last meeting, Nikola Jokic had 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 16 assists to lead the defending champion Denver Nuggets to a 119-103 victory over the Warriors on Sunday night. This was Jokic’s third consecutive triple-double, and his 18th for the season.
In a thrilling comeback, Denver recovered for a 130-127 victory at Chase Centre on Jan. 4. Jokic then hit a 40-footer reminiscent of Stephen Curry’s, helping Denver sweep the four-game season series. With a 13-for-24 performance on Sunday, Jokic recorded his 122nd triple-double of the season.
After getting off to a poor start, Curry finished with 20 points (with four of those coming in the second half) after missing his first seven 3-point attempts. Klay Thompson scored 23 points in the first half as a whole. With 3 minutes and 26 seconds remaining in the third, he made his sole 3-pointer out of 10 attempts from deep. The two-time MVP moved up the NBA scoring leaderboard, passing Adrian Dantley (23,177) for 31st place and Dwyane Wade (23,165) for 32nd place.
In the Nuggets’ tenth straight win over the Warriors, they were led by 27 points from Jamal Murray and 17 from Aaron Gordon. This was their fifth straight win on the Warriors’ home court since a 113-102 loss on March 10, 2022.
