When the Golden State Warriors faced the Lakers without LeBron James last month, Stephen Curry made big shots right away, and the team’s dominance helped ease some of the pain from a double-overtime collapse.
On Thursday night, when both teams returned from the All-Star break, Curry led the Warriors to a 128-110 victory over the Lakers with 32 points, six 3-pointers, and eight assists. 
Curry has decided to be more aggressive in his pursuit of his shot from the opening tip given the composition of the Golden State team.In his 24th birthday, rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 17 points off the bench. “Just him and getting the crowd engaged, bringing a lot of energy, I think it fuels us and sets the tone for the rest of the game,” Jackson-Davis said. “You just want to give him as many shots as possible when you have someone shooting the ball that well because you know that he’s difficult to stop when he’s in that zone.” 
After dishing up his 6,000th career assist, Curry joined James, Russell Westbrook, Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and John Havlicek as the only NBA players with at least 23,000 points and 6,000 assists.After scoring 16 points in the first quarter, Curry made nine of his first twelve shots, including five three-pointers, for a total of 25 points before the half. His 16th half of at least 20 points this season came just before halftime, when the Warriors lead 67-56. He had five straight points just before the break. 
Coach Steve Kerr stated, “I think he feels like it’s OK for him to get going right away. This team can use that.”
In order to record his fourth 30-point performance in the previous six games, the two-time MVP made six or more 3-pointers for the fifth time in six games, shooting 12 for 24 overall.
The Lakers, who were without James due to a left ankle injury that also prevented the 39-year-old forward from playing against Utah on February 14 before the break, were led by Anthony Davis, who finished with 27 points and 15 rebounds, and D’Angelo Russell, who added 18 points, nine assists, and five rebounds.
With just their second loss in eight games, Los Angeles’ three-game winning streak was ended. However, this loss was very different from their previous encounter, on January 27, when the Lakers overcame a 15-point deficit to overcome the Warriors 145-144 in double overtime at Chase Centre.
Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins scored 20 points while Jonathan Kuminga scored 12 points to tie a career-high 34 straight game in double digits. The Warriors won their ninth straight game in 11 after losing to the Lakers.
