At the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Jayson Tatum had a cool moment that should have happened a long time ago.
Tatum, a star player for the Boston Celtics, met up with Larry Bird, a legend of the team, before Sunday’s big event at All-Star Weekend. The weekend events took place in Indianapolis, where Bird still works as a counsellor for the Indiana Pacers.
Cameras caught the moment when the two said nice things to each other.
Before the game, Tatum talked to TNT’s Jamal Crawford about the moment and, surprisingly, said it was the first time he had ever met Bird.
Fans were shocked that this was the first time the two Celtics had ever met. Tatum is now the team’s star player and won the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP Award in 2022. In addition, Tatum is in his seventh season as a player, and he plays the Pacers at least once a year. Naturally, a lot of people thought that Bird and Bird would have already had a moment where they passed the torch by now.
Even so, Tatum and Bird finally met on Sunday after a long time apart. While the season is over, Tatum has worked with other great Celtics players. Now, he can add 67-year-old Bird to the list of people he has worked with.
