Jayson Tatum officially introduces his first signature shoe, the Jordan Tatum 1

Jayson Tatum debuted his first unique shoe right before the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.

The star player for the Celtics shared the Jordan Tatum 1 in an Instagram post on Sunday morning. The post included several pictures of him and his son Deuce wearing the shoes.

They made the shoe, and it will come in four different colours. A darker tone makes up the “Zoo” design. The shoe is mostly black and a darker shade of red. In the “St. Louis” design, the shoe is mostly white with blue lines around the edges. “Barbershop” is mostly grey, but there is some black at the heel and on the shoelaces. “Pink Lemonade” is the name of the shade, and the shoe is mostly pink with lighter blue and green spots.

Tatum thinks that each hue means something different. The “Zoo” hue gets its name from his son’s favourite place to visit: the zoo. The colours of the St. Louis Cardinals are used in the “St. Louis” design to honour his city. Tatum’s “unwavering confidence” after getting a haircut gave rise to the “Barbershop” colourway. One of his favourite drinks named “pink lemonade” also gave rise to this colourway.

Take a look at the shoe in all of its colours below:

The Jordan Tatum 1 will be the brand’s smallest performance shoe this season. This is because the hardware is made from a lightweight TPU frame that gets rid of extra weight. In the heel, there is an uncaged Zoom Air bag that helps generate energy. The top of the shoe is made of a lightweight mesh that looks like it has a padded collar to support the ankle.

Jordan Brand says Tatum asked for a shoe that would feel more close to his foot.

“I want people to feel like they can connect with me,” Tatum said in a statement about his first name-brand shoe. “When I was a kid, I remember going into a store and looking for the shoes that my favourite players had signed. I felt like I was in sync with them and closer to them as soon as I saw the shoe or put it on. So I want this shoe to be a way for my friends and I to connect.
