FALL DAY: Denver Nuggets fall flat in final minutes against Sacramento Kings, enter All-Star break on 3-game skid

Ultimately, the weary Kings emerged victorious with a 102-98 win.Denver (36-19) will enter the break with a three-game losing streak as their 93-89 advantage dissipated due to an 11-0 Sacramento surge in the final three minutes. 

Aaron Gordon’s 3-point shot in the final moments reduced the margin to 102-98. Subsequently, Watson successfully intercepted the inbound pass, but Gordon’s subsequent shot was unsuccessful as he tried to replicate a desperate Tracy McGrady moment. Jokic failed to convert on two additional 3-point attempts following offensive rebounds before the expiration of time.The Kings have emerged victorious in all three encounters versus the reigning champs this season. In the initial two instances, the Nuggets were concluding consecutive away games. Now, it was Sacramento’s opportunity.However, the Nuggets were without its starting players Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who chose to abstain from playing as a precautionary measure in order to gain an early advantage for the upcoming week without any games. Jackson and Justin Holiday commenced the game as the starting players, while Collin Gillespie positioned himself at the scorer’s table, prepared to enter the game as Denver’s sixth player, just five minutes into the match.Gordon was the sole Nugget who managed to successfully score shots, solely through his unwavering determination. He accumulated a tenacious 25 points and 15 rebounds, making 8 of 15 shots from the field and converting all 8 of his free throw attempts.ImageJokic saw his most subpar shooting performance in over a month, making only 6 of his 17 attempts and scoring 15 points. Additionally, he was on the verge of being ejected in the third quarter, but was rescued by the intervention of Michael Malone. Michael Porter Jr. scored 19 points, taking 17 shots. Jackson significantly contributed as a facilitator with nine assists, however he struggled to score efficiently.The Nuggets established a commanding 35-20 advantage in the second quarter through the infusion of a revitalising display of defensive and offensive prowess from their reserve players. 
Zeke Nnaji capitalised on his playing time as a substitute centre, scoring once by executing a roll to the basket and another time by employing a proficient post move. He concluded the first half of the season with a performance of eight points and two rebounds.During a night characterised by unusual scoring streaks and patterns, the Kings managed to score 10 consecutive points, narrowing the deficit to 35-30. However, they then went without scoring for the following 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Throughout that period, the Nuggets prevented their opponents from making any of their six shots and forced them to commit two turnovers. By halftime, Sacramento had committed 11 turnovers.
