The Golden State Warriors’ two-time MVP, Stephen Curry, visited the nation from September 6–8, marking the start of his Under Armour Asian Tour. Curry’s first visit in the Philippines was chosen because, as Under Amour stated, “basketball is a way of life in the Philippines.”

The Warriors point guard said, “Coming out of the airport seeing like 250 fans trying to get a picture and something like that is the part that I still want to enjoy,” after being greeted by local supporters at the airport.

Curry gave credit for his desire to return to the Philippines during a news conference held at BGC, citing the encouragement and warm reception he has been receiving from Filipino supporters.

As he observed the local sites, Curry took a tour of Manila in the famous Filipino jeepney, a standard experience offered to celebrities visiting the Philippines, such as the Pope, Coldplay, and the Riverdale cast.

Curry was also given the opportunity to sample the Filipino “halo-halo” dessert, which consists of shaved ice, yam, and fruits and has even Anthony Bourdain raving about its deliciousness. This is one of the must-do experiences for visitors to the Philippines.

While in the nation, Curry competed in the Mall of Asia Arena’s Under Armour Southeast Asia 3×3 competition, where he and his father Dell Curry defeated other father-and-daughter teams.

Leading the student athletes in their pledge of sportsmanship during the 81st University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season was Curry’s final act in the Philippines.
