When the brand cut ties with Kyrie Irving in December 2022, he asked what the brand’s morals were.

Still, Brown wears Nike shoes for games, even though he doesn’t like them as much as he used to. The Swoosh mark is hidden on his shoes. He instead works with artists to help him use the shoes to send personal messages, like pictures that inspire Black people, gifts to his family, and thanks to the heroes of the game. Brown played basketball in the “Reverse Grinch” Nike Kobe 6. The art on this pair was made to honor both Kobe Bryant and his beloved daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant. Written in paint along the middle panels is the words “In Loving Memory Of…” Marcus “SolesbySir” Rivero, an artist from Miami, made the one-of-a-kind piece.

In the Celtics’ Christmas Day game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Brown also wore a “Reverse Grinch” Nike Kobe 6 without the artwork on the Swoosh. Brown called the shoe designs of today “trash” on an episode of Shoe Shopping last year. He also said that the sneaker game needs to be shaken up.
