The Celtics finally lost at home on Friday, falling to the Nuggets 102-100 in a battle of true contenders

Jayson Tatum put his head down and drove to the basket for a loud slam with 1:41 left in overtime. The score was tied at 91. The Celtics didn’t score again after that, which was a shame.

All three of Boston’s shots in the last 100 seconds went wide, and each one had its own story.

Tatum drove again, but this time he kicked the ball out to Derrick White in the right corner. White had already made five 3-pointers that night, but this one went off the rim.

Tatum missed the next shot while he was in motion. With 22.7 seconds left, he grabbed a rebound after Aaron Gordon missed a 3-point shot and took the ball in the opposite direction right away. Tatum broke inside the 3-point line and was hit hard by several Nuggets players. This caused him to lose the ball as he got close to the basket. He got control of the ball again and tried to make a layup, but it missed, and Tatum didn’t get a whistle either.

We can say the same thing about Tatum’s last shot of the game, which also went in.

Gordon made and missed a free throw, there was a double-lane violation, there was a jump ball, and the Celtics used two timeouts in 12 seconds. Tatum had a chance to send the game to OT with this play. When Boston came in to get him in the post with 4.9 seconds left, he made a fadeaway jump shot right away. Again, there was a lot of talk. Once more, there was no call, and Tatum’s shot went wide.

With that, Denver barely held on for a 102–100 win, ending Boston’s perfect home season.

During the second half of Friday night’s game, Key Player Derrick White pretty much ran Boston’s attack. In the last two quarters, the Celtics scored 39 points, with 16 of those points coming from White.

In the last 24 minutes, Boston’s offense stopped moving. As a whole, they shot 16 of 42 (38.1%) from the floor. White, on the other hand, made 6 of 12 field goals, which is 50%. The Celtics would not have had a chance to win the game in the last few minutes if he hadn’t been on the court.
