The Boston Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 105–96 on Monday night. Jayson Tatum scored 19 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and handed out six assists.
Jrue Holiday scored 22 points and dished out seven assists to help the Celtics beat the Raptors for the eighth time in a row. The Celtics won their third straight game, with 22 points from Derrick White, 15 points from Kristaps Porzingis, and 10 points and 11 boards from Al Horford.
For the Raptors, who were coming back from a 2-4 road trip, RJ Barrett scored 24 points and grabbed nine boards.
Immanuel Quickley of Toronto scored 21 more points. There were 17 points from Pascal Siakam, 10 points and 13 boards from Scottie Barnes, and 13 points from Dennis Schroder.
Boston made 40.2% of its shots from the field, including 41% (16 of 39) from 3-point range.
Toronto made 40% of their shots from the floor but only made 4 out of 32 shots from beyond the arc, which is 12.5%.
Boston was ahead by nine points going into the fourth quarter. With 8:19 left, Sam Hauser made a 3-pointer to make the lead 14 points.
With 6:15 left, Toronto closed the gap to six points, but Holiday scored two straight three-pointers to make it eight.
With 3:09 left, Quickley made a bucket from 11 feet out to cut the lead to six points. With 2:00 left, Barnes made a layup to bring Toronto within 100-96. White made a three-pointer in response.
Boston was ahead 29–25 at the end of the first quarter.
They scored the first five points of the second quarter and were ahead by one. With 8:21 left in the half, Boston went on an 8-0 run to take a six-point lead. There were 2:55 left when Oshae Brissett made a 3-pointer that made the lead seven points. With 1:06 left, Holiday made a layup that made the lead eleven points.
The last five points of the half were scored by Toronto, cutting Boston’s lead to 61–55.
The Raptors went on a 16-3 run to start the third quarter and were ahead by seven points with 7:27 left. With 4:24 left in the third, Tatum scored a dunk and a free throw to make it a three-point play that tied the game at 73.
Payton Pritchard made a 3-pointer to end the third quarter with eight points and give the Celtics an 84-75 lead.
Jaylen Brown of Boston did not play because of a knee injury.
Jakob Poeltl of Toronto (ankle) did not play.
