Trae Young and Bojan Bogdanovic have been somewhat quiet recently, but this subtle statistic demonstrates why their matchups today must be exploited.
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the NBA has scheduled a massive 11-game slate that begins in the early afternoon and runs all night. After a couple of days of smaller slates, we get to watch basketball for virtually the entire day.
We’ve been doing well in this column, and I’ve selected my two best props for the day. Trae Young and Bojan Bogdanovic are expected to have strong performances in matchups that should result in a lot of points on the board.
Our first prop of the night returns to the Atlanta Hawks, a team on whom we won money last week. Trae Young has embraced his job as the primary distributor this season, and he’s racking up some impressive assist stats.
He has recorded 15 or more assists three times and is averaging 18.4 potential assists per game, second only to Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers.
On the year, he has reached this mark in 19 of his 36 games, and he has done it in eight of his last 13 overall. The San Antonio Spurs allow the ninth-most assists to opponent point guards, including 14 to Young in their previous matchup.
Add in the fact that they allow the fifth-most assists overall, and I expect Young to put on a passing clinic in a game that should include plenty of scoring on both sides.
