James, a star for the Los Angeles Lakers, is no longer the youngest player to do this.
On Wednesday night, the Denver Nuggets lost to the Utah Jazz, which was upsetting. However, Nikola Jokic made history. Jokic became the fastest player in NBA history to score at least 13,000 points, grab at least 6,000 rebounds, and hand out at least 4,000 assists.
By reaching these milestones before his 29th birthday, Jokic beat LeBron James’ record. James had been the youngest player to do so before Jokic, at 29 years and 82 days old.
It is big to pass LeBron James on any list, but it is even bigger on an age list. James became the best player in the NBA when he was 19 years old, making him the youngest player to reach almost every big statistical mark. Not many players have come into the league that young and that good, but James is the big exception when it comes to how great he is.
I think one of the main reasons Jokic is the best player in the world right now is that he can score, make plays, and dominate the floor. No one is better than Jokic at all three of those things. He proved it last playoff season when he led the NBA in total points, rebounds, and assists, making him the first player in history to do so.
Denver lost badly on Wednesday, but Jokic made history again.
