Taylor Jenkins, the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, was displeased with the no-call.
In the Memphis Grizzlies’ victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, head coach Taylor Jenkins became enraged at a no-call and stormed onto the court to protest what he believed to be a foul by LeBron James:
Jenkins entered the court without permission and was called for a technical foul, although he had a good reason to be upset about the no-call. Although James frequently would have been called for a flagrant foul for striking Jaren Jackson Jr. in the face, in this instance he was not even called for a common foul.
After the Grizzlies prevailed in this game, Ja Morant had an amusing response to his head coach’s technical foul:
Morant uploaded a screenshot of this game to his Instagram account, just captioning it with a “W” to represent Memphis’ victory over Los Angeles. Players value it when their head coach stands by them, and the Grizzlies were grateful that Jenkins called out the clear foul that the referees had missed.
Memphis had a significant victory since the Lakers are one of the teams they must pass in the Western Conference rankings to regain a spot in the play-in or postseason. Memphis won’t have it easy, but victories like these help them get closer to their objective.
