Marcus Smart made eight of the Grizzlies’ 23 3-pointers in a 127-113 win over the slumping Lakers

D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura, both Lakers players, didn’t play because they were hurt. Because of a sprained left leg, Hachimura missed his second straight game, and Russell missed his third in a row.

Memphis won the first of three games on their trip, even though they lost the ball 19 times. Just before the end of the game, they went on a 24–10 run that started with Jackson’s fifth 3-pointer with 7:28 left.

Jenkins, Memphis’s coach, got a technical foul in the third quarter for getting on the court during play to argue about a call that wasn’t made during Jackson and James’s fight over a loose ball.

Ham is in his second year as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Last year, he led the team to the Western Conference playoffs. Because of how well-known his job is, he knows that if the Lakers have a bad season, he will be fired.

Fans don’t like how Ham changes players and splits up playing time when the team is lost. They don’t like how he tried to start with just defenders around James and Davis, but it didn’t work in the beginning.

Ham said, “It’s okay if people don’t like the work I’m doing.” “I’m going to work hard until I can’t do it any longer.”

James scored 14 points in the first quarter by making all four of his 3-point shots. The Grizzlies made nine 3-pointers before halftime, with Smart making five of them. Smart missed 16 straight 3-point shots in the five games before he made his second shot against the Lakers.

Nashville’s Vince Williams Jr. missed his second straight game because his left foot hurt.
